If you are planning to construct a badminton court, it is important to understand the standard playing dimensions to ensure a perfect playing surface.
The dimensions of a standard badminton court are as follows:
• The standard playing dimensions of a badminton court are 20 feet in width and 44 feet in length.
• The court dimensions, including the non-playing area, measure 15 meters by 7.2 meters.
• A doubles badminton court has a width of 20 feet (6.1 meters), while a singles court has a width of 17 feet (5.18 meters). The full length of the court is 44 feet (13.4 meters).
• The badminton court is marked out as a rectangle using lines that are 40 millimetres wide.
• The posts that support the net are 1.55 meters tall and rise from the court's surface.
• The net is 76 centimetres deep and must be at least 6.1 meters wide. It is made of a fine cord in a dark colour with a mesh of 15-20 millimetres in size.
• A 75-millimetre white tape edges the top of the net, which is doubled over a cord or cable running through the tape. The tape rests on the cord or cable.
• The top of the net should be 1.524 meters above the court surface at the centre for singles and 1.55 meters over the side-lines for doubles.
Difference between Indoor and Outdoor
Meckavo Sports and Infra offer both indoor and outdoor badminton court solutions. The indoor badminton courts are designed to provide players with a range of flooring options such as wooden flooring, synthetic mat, and more, depending on the needs and preferences. On the other hand, for outdoor badminton courts, we provide solutions such as multisport or acrylic, which are durable and long-lasting. The cost of these solutions may vary depending on the type of material and features offered. In terms of structural differences, indoor badminton courts are better suited to eliminate wind variations and provide optimal playing conditions. However, they tend to be more expensive than outdoor courts. Both indoor and outdoor courts can offer high-performance and consistent playing experiences, with long-lasting surfaces that require low maintenance. Ultimately, the choice between indoor and outdoor courts comes down to personal preference, budget, and other considerations.
